Life After Bariatric Surgery
You’re home! You’ll take some time to recover from surgery, and you will be well on your way to living your best life.
After returning home, you won’t be stuck in bed. In fact, you're encouraged to move around! But you’ll still need to take it easy for 3-4 weeks as your body heals and you slowly start introducing solid foods back into your diet. While you're capable of living independently during recovery, we encourage family and friends to visit for emotional support. Don’t forget to stay hydrated!
Supported & Connected
Statistics show that staying connected with your bariatric team through follow-up appointments and support groups is key for long-term success. That's why we schedule multiple check-ins throughout the year following surgery and encourage you to join one of our support groups, which are made up of other patients like you.
Beginning Your Best Life
The results of your surgery become apparent soon after going home. Your appetite changes. You get full faster. As you change your eating habits and follow your exercise plan, the weight starts to come off. But unlike before, the weight stays off.
Your new life starts to take shape. You start taking those walks on the beach. You go for hikes with friends. While it’s tiring at first, you find it’s not as hard as it used to be. You start going to more baseball games and musicals, without worrying about seating. Maybe you start thinking about having kids. You start planning for the future.
And that’s when you realize you’ve broken free from your obesity. You’re no longer stuck in the cycle of losing and gaining weight. Instead, you’re living the life you wanted. Your best life.
